Anger, narcissism and Christianity

A

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

James 1,19-21, NIV

In the Christian bible and in Christian culture (as in many other religions) anger is conflated with rage and “moral filth”, and is therefore not permissible. The information you can find in the Christian bible about emotions is not only emotional unintelligent, but emotionally abusive.

For those of us who grew up in Christianity, with its narcissistic, emotional neglectful and abusive god of the Christian bible, this can have serious psychological consequences.

James 1,19-21 (and many other scriptures) is emotionally abusive and oppressive bullshit.

Our anger is a sign that not every thing is, as it should be. Without the motivation to create change that our anger can be, what would motivate us to seriously fight against oppression, violence and injustice? What could motivate us to fight against abuses of power, supremacy and dictatorships?

Why is the Christian God so afraid of our anger and the good things that can come out of it, that he downright needs to lie to us about its real function and effect?
